The purpose of this video blog is to explore the definition of manhood. As men, we feel that we have been conditioned to behave a certain way. As young boys, we learn what are generally accepted behaviors for boys. We learn that it is not ok to cry or to show any emotions. As young boys we learn that we have to be tough and strong; it is not good to show signs of weaknesses. We receive these messages from our parents, the schools, the media, sports and by the heroes we idolize as children. Our purpose here is to explore these learned dynamics and to begin a dialogue that asks the question: What does it mean to be a man? We do not pretend to know the answers and we do not think that there is a wrong or right answer to this question. We purely want to explore what this means to us as men.
Through the power of dialogue we hope to answer some of the unanswered questions that we have and possibly redefine our understanding of what manhood is. The power to change lies within us all; we just need the will to do so. We're all in this together!
Thanks!
