well im very sure that you are right. E-SAN and Lao are the same. whom lived in Thailand for century. first thailand they didn't want e-san as part of thai citizen but now since it grow they have no choice. if you look deep down to thai history. since they won the war in 70 or 80 A.D "im no sure" that when the country got split in Lao and Thai. same thing as Lao and Hmong is so much of them alot of people think that they part of Lao. For me im not Thai im Lao born in Thai speak e-san

the southern thai formerly is malay kingdom called patani (in english may be this beach or farmer). this ancient kingdom is known as langkasuka. this kingdom is very strong expand from sgenting kra and also including severals state in malaysia such as kelantan, kedah and terengganu at the south. at the north, some territories or small kingdoms include in this kingdom are gherbi(now krabi), terang(now trang), petaling(now pattalung), ujung salang/bukit (now phuket), menara(now menora) etc.
