The multiyear campaign is aimed at substantially reducing the use of electricity and improving energy efficiency among Santee Cooper's 163,000 direct serve residential and commercial customers through rebates and new initiatives, with four initiatives launched September 18.
The comprehensive Reduce the Use South Carolina energy efficiency campaign invites folks to ReThink, ReDuce, and ReNew their approach to saving energy and includes a total of 42 energy efficiency initiatives to help achieve the energy efficiency portion, or 209 million kilowatt hour savings annually, of its 2020 goal. That 2020 goal states the utility will generate 40 percent of its energy from non-greenhouse gas emitting resources, biomass fuels, conservation and energy efficiency by 2020.
