If anyone knows the name of the font used for the Micronauts brand name as seen at the end, please let me know and you will get a gold star.

  • Dunno if you ever found a working copy of the Micronauts font. The micronet site seems to have died with Geocities - but is the Sega font close enough for you? It's much rounder than the Battlestar font.

  • @danlektro : it is the same, isn't it? I haven't laid eyes on the Sega logo since my days at the Sega Center arcade in the early eighties, and so had forgotten. I've just found it under "Sega font". Thanks!

  • @staticfluxforever I think the "m" is slightly off but the font is otherwise spot-on. I've seen that style of writing used elsewhere before both Sega and the Micronauts, so the typeface both those fonts probably has an actual name I am unaware of. Maybe someone at the Mego Museum would know?

  • @danlektro That's a good suggestion about the Mego Museum, I'll try that. Yeah, the font was not uncommon throughout the 70's, often but not always in the context of futuristic themes. Right, the M and other letters in the Micronauts logo have a little "extra" at their ends, I assume a marketing strategy suggestive of the Star Wars brand logo which had stamped itself so firmly in the collective consciousness of the time.

  • it looks like the wings were also guns. i like toys that are toys in different scales!

  • they were!

  • @staticfluxforever its mego

  • I had one of these! Played with it til it fell apart. I never knew the wings converted into motorcycles until now.

  • ok, cool. i'm tired. just let me go to sleep in my pharoid chamber.

(1,000 years later) oh hey, whats up?

  • Ahhh, childhood play before video games.

  • Nice!

  • Damn I loved my micronauts. Could pull and twist em every which way.

  • Micronauts were AWESOME! =)

  • @danlektro The original micronauts predated Star Wars by three years, first released in 1976 (1974 in Japan), but yeah, I think you're right about the Baron Karza being their own version of Darth Vader.

  • I had one of these. Wish I still had it
