This is my favorite version of "Penicillin Penny" by far, and one of my favorite Dr. Hook recordings, period. I love the studio version, but in my opinion this is even better.

Looks like the back line is all Peavy amps. which, at the time of this filming, were very affordable and frequently used by hard touring bands. Lynyrd Skynyrd also used Peavys. At the time there were musicians who felt these amps lacked quality though plenty of groups managed to get some very good sounds with them. I suppose if I could have afforded a Marshall in 1972 I would have bought one but settling for the PEavy wasn't bad at all.

This track is the highlight of a great Hook performance- their brilliance and hillarious madness captured when they were at their peak. Seek this entire perfomance out, folks! There is nothing else like it.
