@Epittetojunior thats only because there are so many fake "variants" of the WSL lineage going around.
Not many Instructors are worth their salt and some are only using the WSL name like a "brand name" to get business.
The guy in this vid (David Peterson) is not one of those. If you look at WSL's own videos (the art of in fighting) and Davids forms and methods, they are exactly the same. He is one of the few that is actually teaching REAL WSL lineage.
@dingsifu Hey David, did no one tell you not to feed the trolls on youtube. hehe. I just looked at that guys channel and his channel feed is full of degrading/pointless/antagonistic/opinionated/baseless comments on lots of random topics that he probably knows zilch about. A typical no-it-all. Don't even respond to dickheads like him, it only encourages them. Nice video by the way, very informative and broken down in true teacher fashion. This is also how we perform it here in Beijing.
@58dragonmist: these changes ARE those of WSL - the proof is on video shot in the early 90s - you seem to have a lot to say about WSLVT, yet we see NO indication of who you are or on what authority you base your comments. Easy to criticise behind a computer, eh? ;p
@Thetraveller04 Your technique's angle (elbow) will have deflected the longer arm to your side and past your head in this instance. The timing would be different as to when and where you would want a bridge. My training partner, being smaller, latches somewhere 1.5x the distance between her fist and my face. So, I'd be 8-10 inches away from her fist, and she'd be 4-5 inches from my fist. her structure would be more stable since her limbs are more close together.
okay. very simple problem. it works preaty well with elbows in.... what would you do even in normal chi sao if someone lift the elbow, of the fooksao hand, and hit a "straight" like a boxer?
especially with taller long reach partners? because if you just hit forward (and step because wrist to wrist you are out of range) you can hit the body and run into a nice punch to the nose. What do you suggest? wu sao hand behind the punch? step to the side?
@gambleyourhealth ok, thanks for the explanation

@Epittetojunior No, these are changes which WSL implemented, not DP.

@gambleyourhealth
I respect your opinion but the fact remains: Peterson's dan chi sao is totally different from WSL dan chi sao.
Best regards
