This video, produced through training in Participatory Video techniques, was made by members of the Beach Management Unit (BMU) in Buyuni, Tanzania. The Beach Management Unit is the local co-management structure that promotes community-based marine resource management with the support of the government. This film examines destructive fishing, in particular the use of explosives. It explores why fishers are involved in this practice, the impacts, and the challenges faced in controlling it. The film will be used to alert decision-makers to the issue and to promote support for the Buyuni BMU in their efforts to put an end to this destructive fishing method.
