  • it's only fiber up to your telephone pole. from there fios uses the same exact cables that your current cable hook-up uses into and throughout your home

    so how is fios different than cable?

  • @LiberalAlien I believe you have FiOS confused with U-Verse. FiOS is a FTTH system (fiber to the home); fiber runs all the way to the subscriber's house, at which point cat5 Ethernet cable takes over. Whereas U-Verse is a FTTN system (fiber to the node), which means the last 1000 or so feet of connection travels via copper wire.

  • Hey, they're comparing FiOS with Service Electric because they said antique cable network created in 1948 which is the year Service Electric started which was the first cable company in the United States. I have Service Electric and it's great. They upgraded their cables. I'm from Allentown, PA.
