MJ ended 1987 scoring 53, 50 and 61 in consecutive games. This is the 61 he had against Dominique to end the season with 3,041 total pts - the only player to break 3,000 in a season other than Wilt. MJ also became the only player other than Wilt to score 50+ in three straight games (KB joined the club in 2007).

Ten years later in 1997, MJ went 18-26 to get 47 against a different Atlanta team headed by Mutombo and Smith. That masterpiece has rarely been seen but it is included here.

  • @ElliotFeeno Raptors were the worst defensive team in the league and had so many injuries that they had the most number of 10 day contracts. He also did it in an era where the defensive rules were modified to give perimeter players an advantage. The NBA has made no secret about that. Kobe has played under those lax rules for most of his career. That 81 point game is impressive, but seriously overrated.

  • @iamhungey12345 haha, that wasn't double teaming. That was simply "teamin". The whole fkin team focused on MJ and physically hurt him whenever they had a chance. Man, don't you just love these retards?

  • How in the hell are you people asking if Kobe is as good as MJ? He's not even close.

  • @uberathlete What was the next highest scored on that Raptors team?

  • @uberathlete Your ridiculous haterade is overated

  • @moviehypno23 watch this around 3.37

  • @minge9 Mm I don't think so, I don't think Dominique was still playing by 1997

  • to be honest, you guys might aswell consider Kobe a legend cause we ALL know he's going to the hall of fame.

  • @bootiack

Larry Bird = .496 career field goal percentage

Michael Jordan = .497 career field goal percentage

  • I'm a Kobe and Jordan fan. All these legends and future hall of famers did not choose which era to play in. Jordan himself said it best in an interview. He thinks it's a great honor to be called the greatest, but he doesn't consider himself that way, because he's never played against Russell, Wilt, Oscar etc We shouldn't be hatin on legends and future hall of famers based on their career accomplishments. Respect them for what they've done for the game.

  • @boredfun91 This is no disrespect to Wilt. He's been an absolute beast in the record books. If you think about it, Wilt played in an era with only a few teams where Russell (and Kareem later on) were among the few who could challenge him, because NO one was his size back then. Now, the typical small forward/ power forward is russell's size and a lot of centres are chamberlain's size. We wouldn't discount his 100. Why would we discount ANY player's scoring achievements based on their era?

  • @boredfun91 I agree that in MJ's era, his 69 and 63 against the Cavs and the Celtics were much better because of the calibre of the team he was going against, but I don't think Kobe's 81 is overrated though. It's just that it's the one of the most prolific scoring displays we've seen in recent memory.
