Dan Mitchell's recent speech to policy makers, journalists, and diplomats on Capitol Hill explains why tax havens should be applauded, not persecuted. Speaking at the Cato Institute event, Dan discussed the dangers to the global economy if international bureaucracies such as the OECD are able to impose fiscal protectionism. This is Part 1 of a two-part series. See www.freedomandprosperity.org for more information.

  • How great would it be if tax havens would be legal,

ctc is a lobbyist group to make tax evasion and money laundering legal

Legal Tax Evasion so the people making million dollars a year plus dont have a pay a penny in taxes and the goverment will then raise taxes on the middle and lower class

  • Id like to react to your point before the socialists make it sound shit. Your absolutely correct. Communism can never exist. It assumes that if something is not based on greed it abolishes greed. The only way to abolish greed is to get rid of greedy people. Therefore communism is a philsophy of violence and eugenics. Power corrupts. Absolute power currupts absolutely. In communism the government has absolute power.

Your ideas are flawed. You espouse higher taxes for the wealthy to make it fair for the poor, but you fail to understand that the current progressive tax system can only survive by allowing the rich to have tax loopholes that the poor cannot take advantage of. If there were no tax loopholes, the rich would either move to avoid the tax or stop earning to avoid paying too much in taxes.

Only a flat tax is truly fair to all.

  • YES!!! Finally someone with sound judgment! The world should build a statue of him! A Monaco resident and Boston student...

  • Isn't the OECD ment to stop tax evaders?

  • Why is this video only playing audio through my left speaker?

  • It has nothing to do with large Government protected Corporations!

All this anti-offshore pressure is a smoke screen for welfare state tax collectors aiming for complete destruction of financial and personal privacy for everyone, just as the so-called PATRIOT Act has done in the U.S.

And to keep U.S. and other nations' taxpayers imprisoned in domestic high tax systems from which there is no escape

The problem started with the Illegal FED Reserve & Wall Street elites; not the working man!

  • Scoforever - Very well put!! Thanks for sticking up for me. I didn't know I earned a minus-8 from the trolls. A badge of honor :) I actually said something that touched a nerve.

  • Thankfully. Wow. Twice. Ridiculous. Wow.

  • Wow.
