With all due respect, I read your book. What you did was a moral sin by crossing picket lines. Did you think you and Fred Brocklander were goign to be treated nicely for what you two did? I was a former umpire on the Division I college level and was approached to be a replacement umpire in the past. I had to refuse, especially being a union worker, myself.

Did you deserve to get shoved by Pete Rose? But crossing picket lines, one should expect tp be ostracized and treated poorly.

You blew the call by delaying it. You can act as a martyr and pretend to be concerned with "fairness", but you still blew it. And it looks like you touched him. "He actually use a finger nail clipper to scratch his face after the game so it would look like I did!!" Yeah, I'm sure you were right there when he did, so of course you're not lying.

I learned in little league that you don't wait for the umpire to make a call. Esasky still had a shot at the plate and he became a spectator.
