Gold prospecting with Audrey, Nikki, Robert and Chris at the LDMA property in Athens, Michigan. May 25, 2008.

This is a water powered trommel. It easily breaks apart into two pieces- 42lbs for the top unit and 44lbs for the bottom. The drum is 3/16 stainless punch hole screen. Material classified out the front of the drum is moved to the side tray with its own water supply. Great fine gold recovery.

  • Around 5:00 did she throw that huge nugget away??

  • @HitfulVids Ha, I wish that was a nugget! Prospecting in Michigan has alerted me to the fact that large nuggets are incredibly rare. But at least we have lots of pretty rocks. :)

  • Excellent looking piece of equipment but why are the girls cleaning the rocks out of the grizzley...I thought that they were supposed to separate out automatically from the entry point.

  • There are two options for the grizzly tines (spacing). Half inch and 1 inch. In the video we have the half inch tines in the header box. I purposely did not put the grizzly at a steep angle so that you could look at the material before you raked it out of the header box (large gold nugget, hopefully). I run the 1 inch grizzly tines for clay. Thanks, good question!

  • Handsome Trommel! What power options do we have? have much material per hr? and website please =)

  • @Kdees The only option the trommel has is the water wheel. The trommel was designed to work with clay and the feed rate to work with this depends on the consistency and amount of moisture of the material. The header box has an option of either 1 or 1/2in spacing for the grizzly. The rate of feed depends on how quickly the material fits through the grizzly. As seen here it also works through gravel quickly, to the point that it can get ahead of the riffle trays.

  • If I could find help like that? I'd be a rich man! Video just makes you want to look for gold! lol!

  • How can I focus on the trommel with the eye candy in the way. They make waders look sexy. Nice machine though!

  • @synaptic76 Good observation, they found that out the hard way =)

  • They're not gay, what you see are the effects of gold fever =)

  • pretty sure those 2 dudes are gay... way too much attention being spent on the job.
