The in game footage shows the year 1941. Italy's ambitions in the Balkans are satisfied, but the glory of the Mediterranean Empire requires them to defeat the might of the British Empire. To do that Italy needs new weapons and equipment. Should she improve existing weaponry or develop new ones?

Hearts of Iron III is now the Beta stage of development. These last months the team has been stabilizing the foundations of the AI, tightening up the rules and mechanics of the game, along with implementing brand new artwork and interface features.

The third instalment in the critically acclaimed World War II strategy series, Hearts of Iron III will feature a plethora of brand new features to satisfy veteran and novice players alike, including a huge game map with more than 14,000 land and sea provinces.

@StormoftheNorth I like cutting-edge graphics, great gameplay, AND story. Why crap on graphics when some games prove that you can have it all (the Total War series comes to mind, although you might not agree)? Besides, the graphics in Hearts of Iron 3 are very beautiful, even though their are hand-painted instead of 3d rendered. It's all in the eye of the beholder, is what I would tell anyone who disagrees with you and me.
