How to beat Dracula in Castlevania 1 NES

FAST FORWARD FOUR AND HALF MINUTES to get to the juicy stuff. Sorry for not editing the first half out and also sorry for the bad quality of my cell phone video recording. that explains those black beams moving up and down in the screen - that's only during the heart collecting, so bare with me. but you can see how i beat Dracula any ways. I couldn't edit the first half out because MovieMaker can't work with Quicktime files. The first try shows you how NOT to beat Dracula, ehehehe... Well, my general tactic was to collect around 60 hearts and use them with holy water (very left candle) on both forms of Dracula - it is pretty important to get a DOUBLE stone and then a TRIPLE stone from the first Dracula form so you can beat the second Dracula form by stunning him repeatedly until you eventually kill that evil biotch. I couldn't beat the second dracula without all that holy water - it is possible, though, by running underneath him to avoid him touching you while he jumps high, while somehow avoiding his sporadic fireballs. Whenever you can, jump and slash at his pretty little face with the whip, but, like i said, i could only do it with the holy water, where it is almost quite easy provided that you have enough hearts! Oh, and I'm not showing off that I'm a great gamer - I made lots of stupid mistakes and I'm pretty average. I play for fun... this is just to show you my tactic! Peace.

Thanks for posting this.  It's been what 20 years or so and I haven't been able to beat that bat after Dracula dies. Its high time he goes down.

Since I cant walk over to little Timmy's house next door to watch how he beat the game (apparently all my friends sucked at this game too when i was a kid), I am happy you are using Youtube to show me how its done.

lmao! yeah i just finally beat Dracula myself... after 20 years! It really was a nightmare to play when I was a kid. Now I can eBay this bastard knowing that I beat Dracula! @villegolas Another thing that is annoying,are the flea men.

Flea men are so much of a pain in the final level of castlevania 1 that it drives me nuts.

Another thing i noticed:If an enemy goes behind you,your character auto changes directions causing you to get a hit from the axe.I don't know why the hell this happens,but i took a hit from the axe from the axe knight because my character changed directions to attack something behind him without me pressing right.

@piromaniac9999 Man! I have this game on my Wii on level 99. Im trying to beat it without using a continue, failing miserably due to fucking pit stage spawns or n00b medusa trolling on medusa level. Also the crows seem to hate me, in fact, all the enemies seem to hate me! Maybe because I killed them so many times!! I beat it on one sitting though, no problem, just dont take my holy water level 3 from me!

@villegolas Well:if you die because you don't use your items properly,or refuse to do something which clearly is the best way,then you are being stubborn.

Yes you can most definitely beat the game with a cross,but its far easier with holy water spam.

You also kind of want to kill dracula as fast as possible,because he will corner you and he takes off 4 bars of life for each time he hits you,and his fireballs also do a lot of damage.

Its about conserving your life.
