Female scientists representing 10 Asian countries including Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia, Thailand have gathered.

They gathered to refuse science and technology that destroy nature, and to exchange opinions on environmentally-friendly science and technology that could help reverse environmental destruction.

The 2011 Asian Female Eco Science Technology Forum was held for two days from Nov. 7 at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul.

Attended by Choi Soon-ja, Chairman of the Korean Female Science Technology Association and other high-profile officials, as well as female scientists from 10 Asian countries, the forum designated ecological science and technology and community values as its main topics.

~ Women in Asia in particular have made little headway in science and engineering. So we invited these young women to Korea so they could present their research, exchange information and share their dreams through this forum.

The highlight of the forum was Alice Huang, Chair of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, who gave a speech on the issue of 'Diplomacy and Diversity for science.'

~ I think that sometimes, people from different backgrounds and different cultures, as well as different genders, can bring a perspective to working on scientific problem that helps one to think a little better about other ways of solving a problem, new ways of solving a problem.

In addition, there was a research presentation on producing a prosperous life through collaborative knowledge, followed by presentations on convergence technology, green businesses and the education of women and leadership.

Female scientists, putting values of harmony and subtlety on the forefront, have rolled up their sleeves for the progress of eco-friendly sciences and technology. The forum is expected to serve as a stepping stone for the co-existence of nature and science and technology.
