Experts in children's education have found that rhyming language found in storytelling can contribute to early spelling and that
oral storytelling is an important component to teaching literacy. In this clip, storyteller Angela Lloyd is telling the American folk song, "Did you feed my cow? Yes, Ma'am".  She uses the song's call and response to encourage the children to participate. The song's rhymes make it easy to learn and remember. This is one of the eight stories told and performed on "Storytellers Favorite Fables" dvd.  Visit www.LetsTellStories.com now for the "Storytellers Favorite Fables" dvd and more information about Spelling activities. As an added bonus, the website has lots of free educational and activity worksheets based on the DVD stories.  The worksheets can be printed out and used to teach spelling and reading.  Your child will thank you for this fun way to learn!
