GMA Network News theme: "News Series 2000" by Gari Communications, Inc. (January 6, 1992 to July 4, 1997).
GMA Headline News was renamed GMA Network News in 1992 upon the transfer of Tina Monzon-Palma at ABC-5 as the Chief Operating Officer and the anchor of The Big News and the death of her co-anchor Jose Mari Velez in 1991. That was anchored by GMA Headline News anchors Leslie Espino and Vicky Morales, two new recruits from rival stations Mari Kaimo (from PTV) and Risa Hontiveros (from Islands TV-13). Al Torres is the voice behind the program.
In the opening ident, Kaimo gave a sneak peek of the night's headlines with clips from the specific news items. GMA introduced a neat animation of the world spinning around. They intended it to simulate the view from a space shuttle as it cruised over the Earth. Al Torres do the voice over saying: "This is GMA Network News, with Mari Kaimo and Risa Hontiveros, Georgette Tengco for Sports, Rachel Del Mar with Weather and the GMA News Team." Followed by a studio includes a skyline and a long-table dual-anchor format.
At the end of the broadcast when Kaimo saying "(program) is coming up next, for all of us, Risa Hontiveros, Georgette Tengco, Marga Ortigas and the GMA News Team, i'm Mari Kaimo, have a good night and have a good day tomorrow."
Originally aired on weekday evenings at 10-10:30 pm from 1992-1995 and from 11-11:30pm from 1995 to 1999. By February 8, 1997, it was expanded on weekend evenings at 12-12:30am.
