I had that same problem with my SD70.

So far I have purchsed 2 faulty SD70 series loco's. The problem with both was bad trucks, they would not stay on the rails at all. I travel for a living and visit the hobby shops and they all report the same problem, will not stay on the tracks. Out of 3 purchased, only one was good so there's a big problem in China!

That's interesting. I will inform my Uncle of this since he also purchased the same model. The funny thing is when he purchased his he had the clerk test the model. The model malfunctioned and died unexpectedly. So the clerk found another Ace and that one worked fine. The only problem my Uncle had was that one of the front number boards fell off. I believe Athearn was not really ready to release the product, there an issue with quality.

Good to know, thanks.

I used a 1/4" x1" strip of thin sheet styrene and Aleene's Tacky glue to close the hole.
Aleene's was again used to seal the two halves of the speaker enclosure, and to make the speaker "gasket",
Athearn has announced that the next run production run will be fixed, and for those locos allready sold, they will be sending out free repair gasket kits, or you can send loco in for repairs.
