That would never have worked, by the time I'd put up one of those old frame tents it would have been dark . They're useful for keeping the rain of though.

A simple remedy for 'windy' take-offs - fly a HANGGLIDER. They are those things with aluminium inside them. I'm sure you've heard of them, but if not, try googling it.
