this is a fucking amazing song. i've hate how neutral milk hotel have sorta become one of those bands who people namedrop lots without having really been able to appreciate it, i.e having not ACTUALLY listened to it or being so preoccupied with the almost caricature image of this album that they miss the music.
still, this song is without a doubt one of the best, dark, subtle and simple acoustic songs i've ever had.
lyrically it's devastating.

Totally agree. the whole album is fuckin awesome, but none of the songs are this powerful in my eyes.
