@redtony58 your grandfather was a wife beater so you will be too. I'd take the example of the development of Bhutan instead. Not everything is hunky dory, but t is a national state supporting a cultural identity.. As for seceding here, well there are some folks who want to break Keene NH from US laws and codes. Who knows. When I look at a political map from 50 years ago, I would never have guessed how it compares to one today.

An interesting argument, but I take a slightly different view. Going to a Beastie Boys concert isn't going to do anything and physical resistance will be crushed. but even the Dailai Lama isn't calling for political independence. What troubles me about your analysis is the denigration of pre-Mao Tibet. I don't feel capable of judging an entire society by my standards. Besides, most Tibetians, if you meet them today don't want a simple restoration of the theocracy. It's sort of like saying

Of course people don't understand China! Why they killed 1,2 million Tibetan and destroyed more than 6000 cloisters? One day, Tibet will be free. And do you know WHY China have to defend himself the whole time? Because evryone sees what kind of terrible things China does. The Tibetan theirselves never sa that they were slaves. And there is also big money being made from cutting many organs out of healthy Falun Gong practitioners (who are then thrown into a furnace) and selling the organs them to desperate people with lots of money who need transplants in a hurry.

So that's 572,915 in 10 days or 57,291 quitting per day. There could be a party at my place when it reaches 100 million, which will be 24 days by my calculations. There is no chance of the CCP being able to sustain that level of loss as far as I can see.
