Mayor Cahill welcomed the 5th Annual New Jersey Bike & Walk Summit on Saturday. The Bike & Walk Summit featured break-out information sessions on activities like Ciclovia, Sharing the Road, Low Stress Bicycling and so much more! Here's a key idea from Mayor Cahill's welcome that displays the importance and drive behind making the City of New Brunswick a safer, more accessible place:

" I have often said that the most important role of government, at any level, was the protection of the lives of the people it represents... When I first became Mayor, I only looked at this at the local level as a police and fire issue... But through the years I have come to realize that protecting our residents means so much more. Making New Brunswick streets safe for all our residents is one of the reasons we implemented our "Complete Streets" policy so as to safely accommodate all users of our streets: motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and persons with all abilities, including the handicapped, the elderly and children. "
