Vera Farmiga's directorial debut, HIGHER GROUND, is a coming-of-age drama in which Farmiga delivers a subtle, nuanced performance completely from the gut, with equally strong and compelling supporting characters. Set against the backdrop of the Sixties, when feminism reached its zenith, the film expertly depicts the landscape of a tight-knit spiritual community. Inspired by the resonant memoir from Carolyn Briggs (who also wrote the screenplay) the film is an exquisite study of one woman's internal struggle with the primary love relationships in her life. John Hawkes, Donna Murphy, Bill Irwin, Dagmara Dominczyk, and Joshua Leonard round out the cast, along with Farmiga's younger sister Taissa, who proves herself to be an extraordinary new talent as Young Corinne.

  • Some people choose not to spell out God as an act of reverence. It is good to acknowledge and respect the beliefs of others.

  • @dontcindyme

    okay,thanks?

  • @faisalmemanghomo A read god would not be concerned with bringing "disaster" on his creations. That's not love. That's man-made judgement because men like to feel that other people are going to be punished for hurting them. A real life is lived, where you do good for no other reason than that its the right thing to do....not because you're afraid of your "father" burning you in hell. God is not jealous, angry, vengeful. God is all of us.

  • @armchairjudge ok. so you will spell out Lucifer, but you only spell God with a G-d, which actually stands for Goddamn.

  • What is this movie about ?

  • @babyturtlefilms G-d create ALL spirits, including Lucifer. Lucifer rebelled and BECAME the son of perdition, AFTER his creation. Before, he was an angel of light, very powerful in his own right. He as cast out from Heaven. He works with legions of spirits (1/3 of the hosts of heaven) who are responsible for influencing evil including all the killings of both animal and human life and all the anti-G-d stuff you see in the world. That has occurred for generations. He's the god of THIS world.

  • @babyturtlefilms

God does not do or approve of evil, god indicates that people should not complain in view of their sins, evil is not really a created thing.skeptic like to claim that God created evil and cite the Bible to "prove" their point,God decrees times of good things and times of judgment,

God is not the author of evil.God brings disaster on those who continue in hard-hearted rebellion against Him.thats what isaiah tried to say

  • @faisalmemanghomo if you believe in the bible then god created evil.

according to your good book.. before god there was nothing, how can evil come from nothing?

god created lucifer, and because god knows everything before it happens he knew before he created lucifer that he would become the devil. therefore god created evil. simple logic.

Im really curious how you rationalize why god created evil.

  • @babyturtlefilms

The Bible never states that God created evil souls,Souls which speak uniquely to humans were created for a perfect relationship with God, but they were also created with the ability to chose,Evil is not of God nor was it created by God, evil was and is allowed by God because he gave humanity free will. Evil was brought into the world by man's choice not by an act of God.

  • @babyturtlefilms

god created wicked evil hearts? it says human not god, what we tryin to say is you can choose and decide what you want and not blamin god for every bad things that human do,Thus God created the soul with the ability to do evil or do good. God ordained or predestined that our souls must make choices to do evil or do good, he created the soul to have freedom, our soul are evenly balanced in creating good and evil
