what was the sound effect at the beggining? was it the Escudo's engine?!

Yes. Probably there is too much power, and Gran Turismo isn't able to play the engine sound normally... In the beginning, before any race, the needle "bounces" from 1000 to 9000 rpm, and, during the race, it is locked to 9000... Sometimes it makes some graphic glitches, too: the larger part of the screen becomes red...
