Here is the first draft of the Top Ten Dunkers in the Class of 2010. I will be updating this throughout the season. Class of 2011 will be coming soon. This will be an ongoing hoopmixtape feature.

Lets get to it...

10) 6'6 J.D. Weatherspoon; J.D. dunks with a lot of power and always does a curl up when he dunks. If you give J.D. a step he can get his head up to the rim off a dropstep. Extremely explosive.

9) 6'5 Jason Morris; Jason is an excellent one foot jumper that is known to pull out impressive dunks in a halfcourt set. I've heard stories of him pulling 360 alleyoops in traffic. Great leaper off one foot and has no problem finishing his dunks.

8) 6'1 Brandon Peters; Brandon "Snap" Peters makes it look effortless. He seems to just float whenever he takes off. He sustained an injury at the event I saw him in. If I saw Brandon at one more event he would have easily been in the top 5.

7) 6'6 Jereme Richmond; I first saw Jereme 2 years ago and he grabbed my attention killing cuff windmills in warmups. Can easily get dunks when motivated. When he gets a good run up and any space in traffic there is a poster waiting to happen.

6) 5'10 Joe Jackson; I've followed Joe since he was a sophmore. Jackson won a dunk contest sophmore year with an eastbay. Joe really impressed me more so this Summer than any other time i've seen him with his dunks through traffic. A lot of people who see him night in and night out will be irritated he is at 6. Joe can easily move up higher on this list as the year goes on.

5) 6'0 Reggie Smith; When I followed Mean Streets Express when Derrick Rose and Eric Gordon teamed up I made sure I got their early just to see Reggie Smith take off in warmups. He just graduated 8th grade at the time (One dunk is in the mix) and was punching windmills with authority. The next year he was backrimming eastbays. This past Summer I wouldn't have been suprised if he went between the legs in a game. Known for inbound alleyoops and posterizations that come out of no where. Has a ton of bounce and one to watch this season. Him, Jereme, Rashad, and Selby are my favorite dudes to watch because not only will they get dunks in games but they will put on a show in warmups.

4) 6'5 Rashad Perkins; Two Summers ago I saw Rashad for the first time at Breakout Camp. I was walking court to court and didn't see to much potential for crazy highlights. Then next thing I know a kid throws it off the board to himself on the break and dunks on the other teams center. Rashad started playing basketball late but loves to dunk and he has no problem getting them in games. Rashad told me he started getting his dunk ideas when he was younger after he played NBA Street. He would watch what they did then go outside on do them on regulation. Now he does them in games. Perkins is known for his off the board dunks he will regularly pull in traffic. By far had the highest dunk count of any player i've taped the past 2 Summers. I wish there were more dudes with the mentality that Perkins has...or maybe we just need more kids to play NBA Street.

3) 6'8 C.J. Leslie; When I first saw C.J. play 3 years ago I would have never thought he would the insane game dunker he is today. C.J. has great timing, has utilized his wingspan, and improved his already solid athleticism. Always had a lot of potential to get dunks but now it's scary. I wouldn't be suprised to see him do a windmill on someone or pull a 360 windmill on a dropstep in traffic. Very entertaining to watch and is guaranteed to get several dunks a game. Him alone makes Word of God a must watch team.

2) 6'2 Josh Selby; Selby can jump off one or two feet and doesn't hesitant to try to punch on anyone that jumps with him. I first saw Selby at the Spalding Hoophall Classic last year and he was impressive. I knew he had bounce, but didn't know he could dunk with the best of them. Then came the Summer. Had 3 posters in Vegas, showed out at Barry Farms, pulled a windmill and an eastbay in game at King City, and then shut it down at the Elite 24...by the way you all know he is 6'2 right?

1) 6'6 Dwayne Polee; Dwayne has James White type bounce. Athletes like him come very few and far between. Polee gained a tremendous amount of buzz since 6th grade because of his jumping ability. The decision to put him number one came easy after I saw him get his head over the rim on a dunk in Vegas. Can jump off 1 foot or 2, although he gets the highest off one. We will see if he can hold on to the number 1 spot this year.

  • ive always wondered how it would feel to look at the rim when im jumping..... put it on 8 and lets go

  • @sathernut I don't think you know how DNA works. First of all, there's no way for anyone to know "what traits" come from which parents. You get 50% from each parent anyways, so there's no way "most of his DNA" comes from his "black heritage." We could delve into your misuse of the word "heritage" (I don't think he got any of his leaping ability from his father's African culture) but we can just leave it at that.

  • @mattthechamp Are you SERIOUS? Listing all those people and i dont see the name jerry west come up once? he has a case to be the best player of all time, and dirk who just led the mavs to a championship

  • @mattthechamp blake griffin is NOT WHITE. Hes half black and apparently most of his DNA including his athleticness is taken from his black heritage. Hell look at the dudes fuzz hair, hes obviously NOT WHITE. Damn.

  • 1:20 the ball got it's revenge

  • @djdeji1

Not only is it ignorant, it's racist. Jerry West and Bob Cousy are possibly the best guards ever, certainly top 10.

  • @djdeji1 That is just plain ignorant.
