Maggie Stiefvater, author of "Shiver" and "Lament," sits down with Booklist to talk about the challenges of writing paranormal fiction, the strangeness of being called a romance writer, and who would win in a no-holds-barred cage match between homicidal faeries and love-struck werewolves. Also, she shows off the sketch book that has her in trouble with the Department of Homeland Security.

  • I agree! I read the book and was immediately hooked. MUCH better than the Twilight saga in my opinion. It's easier to follow and there isn't an awkward attraction between them.

  • i absolutely love this book ! couldent put it down, to be honest i think its a little better than the twilight saga :D

  • @iLuvAresFlier He could have slept on the couch -__-

  • @TheKlein77 The line of the story wasn't about sam and grace sleeping together (they weren;t doing anything bad... atfirst because he had nowhere to sleep) and just because her parents aren't around makes the book stupid? You don;t have to like it (though you should) but those are NOT reasons to say the book is stupid. It's amazing *sniffles*

  • can i please have my own sam?

  • how can people compare these books to twilight, they arnt even the same thing nor are they supposed to be, twilight is amazing for being twilight, shiver is amazing for being shiver, cant they just be loved and respected for the books they are and not the books that have also been successful, twilight wouldn't be popular if it wasnt good and i wouldnt have read shiver in 3 hours if it hadn't be completely captivating, dont compare them they are nothing alike they are just two beautiful books

  • @Szayel15 I defiantaly agree! Its so much better than the Twilight saga. The story flows better. I think its better without a awkward love between them too. When I looked at it I thought it was going to be one of those cheesy or rubbish romance werewolf book. But to my surprise it is a fabulous book. This is all in my opinion. So I agree with Szayel15!

  • What kind of sketchbook is that?!

    ...

    Me wants! :)

Although it looks like its probably that crazy expensive Italian leather. :(

  • This book was stupid. The parents were never around and Grace had Sam sleeping in her bed right after they met face to face. Stupid :p

  • haha this made her my new favorite author

  • I'm reading Lament right now, but the weird thing is in Holland, Lament is called Heartbeat, or is there a book of Maggie called Heartbeat. But, anyway, I LOVE LUKE! <3 I'm also because of the book wearing a neckless with a key. <3
