Plenty of Irish people pronounce Maher as Mar. If you're being so pedantic, do you pronounce every other word or name in it's correct way? Common ones I hear are 'bruschetta' pronounced as brush-shetta and 'Forza' like the game, as 'Forzzza' and not 'Fortza.' Language evolves. I think it's some desperate pride motivated thing you have here in relation to the pronunciation of his name but I'm sure if it was flipped around in some other broad sense, you wouldn't give 2 fucks.
