I get an opportunity to demo a Medtronic pump for 3 days. In this episode we look at the steps setup, install and detach the pump on me.
Hope this helps you get a better feel for the pump

  • I wear the medronic pump - the same one you wore inn this video. I've been on it since May 2009 (I never had blood in my tubing).

I am interested in whether you prefer the omnipod? Can you do a pump comparison bid at one point? Thanks

  • @claudiastrauss . I was thinking the same thing. I am demoing the ping this week and will post a video on it soon. Look for the comaparison in the next few weeks.

The blood thing is still a mystery although I think it has something to do with the bruise i got. I did not get a good explainiation yet for it. I'll see if i get the bruise on the ping. thanks for watching.

  • blood vessle, how long have you been a diabetic ((havent you ever taken shots before.happens all the time. shouldnt hurt anything besides the burn when you inserted

  • It isn't the inserter. It's the location. You've just tapped into a blood vessel. When you first noticed blood you should have re-done your site. Infiltration can only happen if the flow of insulin is interrupted. Change your site.

  • I should have noted I don't use a "server device" to insert the canula (I do it manually).

I have never gotten the kind of bruise you got either - upo removing the canual. So...between the ruise you got and the blood in your tubing I am tempted to attribute those things to the server device . Flesh wise it's obviously a strong method of inserting the canula. there are pros and cons to that server device, evidentally
