  • By definition, multicellular organisms are organisms that consist of more than one cell, and which have differentiated cells that perform specialized functions.

    Specialisation, allows the organism to adapt to environmental change and perform specific functions which are vital for it's survival. Respiration and digestion would not be possible without it. Since all multicellular organisms show specialisation, I would say that a multicellular organism would not be able to survive without it.
