Will Rogers was a humorist and political observer. His observations then still ring true to today.

  • Will Rogers was a Democrat in the truest sense. He believed that public assistance was a necessity: "These people that you’re asked to aid, why they’re not asking for charity, they are naturally asking for a job, but if you can't give ‘em a job why the next best thing you can do is see that they have food and the necessities of life. I don't suppose there’s the most unemployed or the hungriest man in America that hasn't contributed in one way to the wealth of every millionaire in America."

  • Watching his movie now..how refreshing

  • Men like Will Rogers are born but self made. More men should work on making themselves like him.

  • Hey! The quote, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there," was quoted twice! wileystudios had a nice train of thought, but a one track mind that went round in a circle, before it went home. That's okay. Will Rogersville is a funny little town, worth revisiting, even if Will Rogers' ghost is a little forgetful at the age of 131. That's some cracker barrel! Nice job! Thanks for posting!

  • I'm Republican and I am a true conservative. I won't vote the party line if the party is screwing my values. Will rogers was a conservative and a democrat. How the hell did the democrat party get hijacked by communists? I'm an American first but I'm an Okie too and, let me tell you, the world would be a better place if there were more Okies around. Will Rogers makes me proud of my heritage and thank you Mr. Savage for making history class an inspiring adventure. The one class I loved going to.

  • What an American treasure Will Rogers was!

  • It's too bad that so many of us weren't taught these sayings when we learned the wit and wisdom of Ben Franklin. Rogers was a true sage.

The thing that makes me proudest is that his wit made him one of America's favorite sons....even though he came from an obscure indian reservation in Oolaguh territory in Oklahoma.

  • very good insights. thanks.

  • Thanks for your series on Words of Wisdom, they are all great!
