Chromatography is a proces used to separate mixtures. Here a simple chromatogram is made using filter paper over an evaporating dish filled with the solvent. The clip has been sped up four times the original speed. In this clip four Vis-a-Vis brand wet erase makers are tested with water.

  • oh thats it's awesome , incridible, how u can do that?

  • @RayhaRolaNahya The paper is filter paper here (coffee filters will work in a pinch). The marks are made around a quarter placed at the center. A hole was poked in the center and a filter paper wick was made of rolled up paper. Then it was set over a dish of water to let the water soak up the wick and then it will cause water-soluble inks to separate. This video was sped up.

Other inks can be separated with water some instead need a different solvent. I have other videos showing this.
