  • @thekeifernet One CAN actually see, @ 0:45 and 2:51, that it is in fact Ray Weston on drums. Even with your eyes closed! lol. He has a very distinctive sound. I was lucky enough to have worked on this tour, and the one b4 it...or after it...i can't quite recall! And Martin's fluffed note @2:04? He did that most nights! This band and line-up was my first ever work as on-stage monitor engineer in my younger days, and i will always love them! Cosmic! (Jazz!) haha

  • @thetmanfitness dude! it's just occurred to me that we must have met! if u went to Japan, then u would have been on the dates leading up to it? and u were also setting up Ray's kit too, as well as guitar tech? yeah, i was doing the on-stage mix. john was years b4 me. i remember feeling strange whilst setting up at The Marquee, and then we realised that the smoke machine (on stand-by) was puffing out with a mix of amyl from a rave the night b4! ahh, happy days!

  • There are better vids/versions of this song posted and IMHO I do think that despite not "seeing him" behind the kit it is indeed Steve Upton on the drums at this point in time.

  • Wishbone Ash is one of, if not the most, favorite of my favorite bands. Great guitars, drums, singing, lyrics, everything. These cats rock!

  • @WeAmLove nice one. this was my last tour as guitar tec having worked for them from when the original line up went back on the road in about 88. steve norris was with us in japan, good tour but short. john dixon(?), top guy, set his head on fire once doing a unicycling fire breathing act! what was the name of the other sound guy who worked for steve? did you know tony the lighting guy they often used?

  • @thetmanfitness

He worked for Steve Norris about a year or so before me! (John was tall, long blonde hair?! lol) Well remembered. Nope. Not John, but i know of him. Correct about Devon!

Yeah, i love this particular performance here, although the vid quality is naff. Chose to post a comment on this one because, for me, it captures the excitement of 'the opening song' as it was for my few yrs. I think the encore would be 'Blowin' Free'. AH! This wld have been my 1st ever tour! No wonder i ❤ it!

  • @WeAmLove

Stage sound guy around this time was John from Devon, that you? I remember at this show some guys from takamine came along and just gave Andy a brand new electro acoustic!
