and with that the circle is complete, you may not be able to argue preference but with these three reviews i can firmly establish that anybody trying to argue that these prequels are good films in terms of quality are(in the words of Harry S' Plinkett)...
Fucking idiots!

@wolfman8325 dude...i almost tear up at that thought. those are the fucking prequels we deserved.

Personally, i think phantom menace is the most entertaining outa the three prequels, which thats not even saying much. I like star wars mythology, its some of the most memorable characters and world ever created. But the movies themselfs are all pretty mediocre. Even the older star wars had some pretty terrible acting, leia being pretty shitty. And the older star were entertaining, but not timeless classics. They were just ok movies, star wars world is amazing, movies not so much.

To be fair, it was EMPIRE and JEDI that started elevating Vader's place in the storyline. HOPE was working with a completely different backstory than those two. Which shows given that in HOPE he indeed does not seem to be taken seriously by his peers in the Empire and seems just like a normal officer, but in the second two he is greatly feared by all around him and was made the Emperor's right-hand-man. Obi-Wan saying the Emperor deliberately went to turn him to the dark side. Just my 2 cents.

to much exposition...we don't need to be TOLD we need to be SHOWN...
-
@Darthwannabe that would be cool too. if they focused on the increased militancy of the jedi it would have made it look more like they were trying to take over.
-
@anime1973 I also thought it would have been cool to follow the clone war and it's effects on the republic/the jedi forced to not just be guardians of peace and justice but having military positions thrust on them, and how "General Kenobi" changed from a Jedi Knight into the leader of a clone army (or civilian army fighting clones...)
-
@anime1973 Hey never thought of that great idea! But sadly, prequels are prequels with their stupid ideas. I still kind of like them though.

I wish I had zuckerbergs money so I could remake the prequels. I know exactly what they should have been like, and I'm guessing most star wars fans have a very similar version, one they imagined when they first saw the originals, where anikan was a pilot and Yoda instructed Obi-wan, It would retain the feel of the originals, use miniatures and puppets and use CG only when necessary - allude to the same serials the originals did and have a certain charm. The prequels we got were sterile shit.

Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are the space adventure serials that ARE the greatest films of my life, THEY DID NOT NEED 3 MORE FILMS AFTER OBI WAN ALREADY GAVE US THE ENTIRE BACK STORY WITH ONE LINE; "Vader was seduced by the dark side of the force, he was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil. He hunted down all the jedi and murdered your father". The ENTIRE back story gets covered by the end of ROTJ. The prequels had so little to tell us that they is just FILLER films
