Police take-down, guns drawn

On May 29, 2007, at around 8:00 PM, a man was spotted shoplifting at the Nordstrom's Rack in Factoria Mall (Bellevue, Washington). When a security guard confronted him about it, a scuffle broke out and the man fled from police to a nearby KFC restaurant in the same parking lot. The fact that the man got physical with mall security turned this incident into a strong-arm robbery (instead of mere shoplifting), which is a felony in Washington State. The Bellevue Police took this call seriously and responded quickly (some of you law enforcement savvy people may recognize the "closed air" tones being broadcast on the outside radio speaker of the cop cars; police were also responding code 3). The KFC was evacuated and a perimeter was established. The police thought the suspect could have gone up to the roof, so a Bellevue fire truck was called for ladder support. In addition, Redmond Police were called to assist Bellevue with a K9. They went in and found the guy hiding. With guns drawn, they detained him. Unknown if a taser was deployed or the dog helped bring him down; also unknown if the suspect was armed. He was/is a 39 year old from Renton.

KIRO 7 featured this footage on their 11:00 PM broadcast that day as the third story and they also played it in their commercial that night. They paid me $75 . . . I was relatively new to the game at that time.
