  • i'd still pimp that car down the street regaurdless of gas milage. looks like it would use a toyota as a airbag between it and the highway barrier.

  • Who cared back then: gas was like 15 cents a gallon. Full service too!

  • I'd take the Mercedes. What imbecile can't tell what car he's in blind folded anyway? You hear a big difference when that 300 lb Mercury door shuts KERHUNG, compared to a refined Mercedes fit. Detroit made some real nasty dinosaurs in the day, and this topped the heap. Horrible handling, cornering, stopping, fuel economy, and required premium fuel. This had optional radial tires, you have no idea how bad bias-ply feels on the road! Mercedes had rack-pinion steering, far superior car.

  • Look at the body-roll at 0:20.

  • These guys today would be in Benz and Beamers!

  • @frankd1965 That's a Rolls - Royce not a Benz. Mercedes were not that expensive back then.

  • Rare commercial where the cat didn't growl at the end; loved how that chap said "scrupulous," Jolly good!

  • @Rome41jm The 16K limosine was a Chrysler Imperial and the 26K car was a Mercedes Benz 600 Limosine.

  • If only they would make cars like that again.....

  • Actually gas was more like 25 -35 cents/gallon, not 15 cents.

  • @Rome41jm Since I was born the same year you purchased your brand new Buick Le Sabre back in 1969, I sure wish that we all were making the same income today and the cost of living would be so low. We could all get along quite a bit better- I mean the cheapest I ever paid for gas was back in the mid- late 1980's and almost had a heart attack when it reached over $1.00 a gallon- and NOW look at it. GEEZ!!! It never ends!!

  • @mtfune

I paid $4300 for a fully equiped 1969 new Buick le Sabre..and $7800 for a brand new Chevy Caprice in 1978....Yes prices have gone up. I now have a new 2010 Infiniti G series and it cost $38,000....
