Lilith Performance Studio Catalogue Launch featuring five performances on June 5th, 2010.
Lilith Performance Studio launches its first Performance Catalogue, Lilith Performance Studio 2007-2009. We celebrate this by showing performances by five artists who all have had a prior production period in the studio; Tsuneko Taniuchi (JPN), Melati Suryodarmo (IDN), Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen (PHL/DNK), Saralunden (SWE) och Tanya Mars (CAN).
Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen (b. in 1970 in Manilla, the Philippines, lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark) presentes a new piece, Halloween - I want you under my skin. In the form of a lecture Cuenca Rasmussen creates a performance about national identity. 7 models, all whom have chosen to dress up to look like a different national identity than their own origin, helps her illustrate the theme. A make-up artist takes part to make their transformations more evident. A studio photographer have set up her small photo studio next to where Cuenca Rasmussen stands. The photograper takes photos of every model when costume and make-up is ready. Cuenca Rasmussen continuously lectures about the specific prejudices that characterize each of the chosen national identities and the stereotypes that are created. She ends her performance by dressing up like a danish woman and gets her picture taken.
