Tough race - I got bounced out of the P12 race myself. Just couldn't make it up the hill anymore
Fun watching these, brings the memory of searing pain right back...
I set my cam up on my spare helmet last week and will try to snag footage of a P12 at some point. I can code some too - tidy or not if you post what you have to an open source site

I wrote some custom software, which I'm aiming to tidy up and share at some point. Dashware and Trackvision are some other tools you might want to check out.

How do you get the power / speed data overlayed onto the video?

Ugh, I really hope this fad of putting music in cycling videos ends soon. It's a thousand times better to commentate and tell us what's happening or give some racing tips. We can put our own music on and I do.

@kawika33 I've toyed with the idea of putting on a Phil Liggett voice and adding running commentary, but I don't think it's as easy as Phil makes it sound. It would probably change the task of producing a video from one that takes minutes to one that takes hours. I may add captions in the future though. IMHO some music (which you are free to turn off) is better than wind, which is all you get from the contourhd's mic.

BTW - I notice you chose the handlebars, have you tried the cam on the helmet and decided against it? Seems like the vantage point and ability to steer the image might be better on the helmet if it's steady enough ? Curious if you tried both and picked the bars on purpose

@youtubieness I've been mounting the camera above the front brake. I started down this path because I wasn't happy with the helmet mounting solution for the contourhd. Also, I think I prefer the steady view even if the perspective is a bit low as long as there's a decently wide-angle lens. I find helmet cam videos a little distracting when the rider looks around.

@youtubieness btw, one likely advantage of the helmet cam is less vibration. I've had to debug a lot of vibration issues.

that's some cool software that you wrote. i really like the rolling and record power display, keep the videos coming. i had to go the less skilled route and buy off the shelf.
