Suddenly, it just started pouring rain. I could barely see across the street and when I could, rain was blowing in heavy sheets UP my neighbors roof. The streets were flooding full to the tops of the curbs on both sides of the street like a river, and we are on the a top of a hill. Lakes started forming in low lying areas in mine, and my neighbors yards. Everything looked as though it was in a wild waterfall, with rain gutters spilling over like they were placed in a river. They were of no use, water rushing over their tops. Low lying areas were hit much harder, flooding out engines of cars, basements and water over 4 feet deep in the underpass. The Casper Star Tribune states that we received 2.25" of rain in a very short period of time with winds up to 65 mph, with at very least $4 Million in damages. I have never seen anything like this rain, except Hurricane Ivan in 2004 in Atlanta, GA.
My weather station data for this storm which states almost 9" per hour rain, can be seen here: http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KWYCASPE3&am...

  • Nature in the raw is seldom mild.

It's amazing how quickly all these dramatic events take place. And how, within minutes, the heavy rain is gone and a blue sky is revealed.

  • hebneh, thank you for watching and for your beautiful comment!

  • This is what people forecasting weather need to absorb at the fullest extent because this is what it is. Thanks

  • jomosamify, that is the most profound compliment I have ever received. Thank you!

  • @jomosamify You are so correct, this IS what it is. I am a forecaster and have loved the weather since I was 4. Most forecasters are mesmorized by events such as these. Thank you WyomingJody for sharing this video. I was...mesmorized.

  • oh my god i live in casper and i remember when this happned it was so scary

  • It was pretty interesting being there... My mom was at Season Salon downtown and the water was leaking in the door. Our basement on the eastside flooded and I was out in the street when it happened.

  • lightning 1:31

  • It looks like there must be a mountain off camera to the right because the low level clouds come from left to right and then stop and almost immediately it starts raining as the clouds build.

  • Caught that lightning bolt at around1:30 in extreme left of frame, Typical for lightning to just proceed the rain shaft.

  • The title Says microburst But I didn't see a microburst !!

  • this years was WAYYY crazier

  • This is yet another example of active climate change. Casper hasnt had flooding like this in 40 years, a little less than a month before that, there was a tornado, a year and a month before then, on may 7th there was a tornado witch touched down at the mall. Yet two years before that, in july of 2006 it got to 104 degrees farenheit. So you people who think and say there is no climate change are complete morons and need to hit themselves upside the head and have a reallity check done twice.

  • At 1:46 that bush on the right is just trying to hang on
