Puff the Magic Dragon

This is a song I never sang before (this video is my first go at it). In fact, it is a song that I never liked... I found it too sweet for my "folkie" ears. I made a comment about it being tooooo sweet in the notes on my posting of "Big Rock Candy Mountain."
When oldstewball corrected my attempt to pin Big Rock Candy Mountain on Peter, Paul and Mary, I realized that I had made a mistake, that I was thinking about Puff the Magic Dragon. That being said... I let my critique of Puff stand.
Ukulele Katie told me that I might not have found it so saccharine if I had looked closely at the words and bought into the cannabinoid-image theory.
So I decided to check the words out. To my amazement, there in the lyrics was a phrase that I immediately identified with oldstewball.
I had no choice... I had to do this song for my two youtube friends who stood by me even as I belittled one of their favorite songs.
So light up and let's go to that land called Honalee....

I am using an iMac computer. Camera is on the computer and I use the program iMovie (which comes with the iMac computer). Pretty straight forward. Sometimes I use my regular Canon camera to shoot video but then I still use iMovie.

This is waaaay too much and really,really far out there! There is no need for mental imagery nor mind altering chemical inhalation/ingestion when we have such colorful,psychedelic images presented right before us on a silver platter.

I shall never think of "Puff" in the same way ever again...lol!

This performance was EXTRAORDINARY and very-much appreciated by yours truly.

Anyways when I was little I would go to my nana's house for sleepovers only once in a while because she lives far away. she would sing this to me until i fell asleep and everytime i hear it it brings tears to my eyes because i wish she would still sing it. but im too old. I miss having sleepovers with my nana. she would play her harmonica for me and everything I love you Nana <3

Not one of my favourite songs, either, but it's certainly very popular. I did enjoy hearing it sung by Peter Yarrow himself though, when he came out to Hong Kong a couple of years ago.

Marvelous introductory rap. He makes a good case though reductio ad absurdem (I'm reminded of Arlo Guthrie's Pause of Mister Claus) but I continue to wonder why anyone would name a song character "J Paper" without some nefarious intention....Anyway, many thanks for sharing this lost gem!
