Reefer Madness is a 1936 propaganda film revolving around the tragic events that follow when high school students are lured by pushers to try "marihuana": a hit and run accident, manslaughter, suicide, rape, and descent into madness all ensue.

The film was directed by Louis J. Gasnier and starred a cast composed of mostly unknown bit actors. It was originally financed by a church group and made under the title Tell Your Children.

The film was intended to be shown to parents as a morality tale attempting to teach them about the dangers of cannabis use.[1] However, soon after the film was shot, it was purchased by producer Dwain Esper, who recut the film for distribution on the exploitation film circuit.[1] The film never gained an audience until it was rediscovered in the 1970s and gained new life as a piece of unintentional comedy among cannabis smokers.[1][3] Today, it is in the public domain in the United States and is considered a cult film.

Funny thing is, in the absence of the truth about marijuana and it not actually being detrimental, they saw only the superficial affects of pot, instead of researching, yet had no trouble allowing people to drink to excess causing a drunk state which was similar to one under the influence of marijuana. Yet they had no trouble leaving that intoxicant. Also this movie didn't actually prove anything bad about pot, the shot was an accident, from a gun a sane person brought. Good movie only when high
