This is a video tutorial on how to teach your puppy not to bite at his leash.
Don't start the training games, AS the problems are occurring. Start the games when your puppy is calm and relaxed to set him up for success.

If your puppy is very excitable, you could have your puppy on leash or in a pen while someone else does the distraction further away from you at first so that the puppy can cope.

Teaching default calm behaviors like a 'settle' will increase your puppies abilities to cope with exciting situations and make the correct choices.

  • I'm trying to teach my 3 yr old boxer (who has no interest in leash biting at all) to retrieve her leash and bring it to me before walks. Any ideas on how to get started?

  • @Pelagic01 zsianz1 has a new video on teaching fetching different objects

  • I have a question, how can you stop a 1 year old dog from chasing dogs and bicycles? On the leash he walks loosely and ignores dogs and bicycles. Off leash he will go over to a dog and sometimes chase them. Then when he gets chased he sits down and gets nervous or after saying hello and chasing hes calm. But how can i stop him chasing bicycles? Its happened twice and i can't let him off the leash anymore because nothing matters when hes chasing. What do i do to make them less exciting?

  • @Wtflolyay You could have him on a harness and long line so he feels off leash, then when he sees the stimuli- click him, and get him to come to you for the reward. If he doesnt come, simple prevent him from getting to go to the stimuli. Then once youve done that a while- as the stimuli happens, you can say good boy! and if he comes to you of his own accord you could reinforce that if you liked etc etc

  • Omg I forgot how cute dalmation puppies are!

  • I have a 14 week old shiba inu/border collie mix who will not stop biting his leash and it's really getting on my nerves. Any tips? :(

  • how many times a day should be trained your dog???

  • my dog bites the leash and the collar, he chokes himself with the collar

  • My english mastiff (Thor) and my fox terrier (steppy) keep crying when put the leash, any other ideas?

  • Man, i wish i had a clicker.

  • I love your videos, they are the best put together ones I've seen!

But I have a question for you: How do you get your puppy used to wearing his collar? Should I click and reward every time I put it on? He scratches at it all the time even though it's a nice and soft leather one that fits him correctly.
