August 8, 2010 ~ URKY was contacted and asked to save 110 dogs plus other domestic animals at a breeder's property in Casey County KY.

An emergency triage unit was set up as dogs were confiscated from deplorable conditions and brought in for evaluation and care.

Dead dogs were found in a freezer on the property. A pregnant sharpei died, who was Heartworm positive, and had ruptured corneas either from a heart attack or being sprayed with a disinfectant the owner used to try to clean up the property before officials arrived on the scene.

Two 12 week old pups, infested with parasites, which a 50 cent dosage of wormer would have prevented, died in the arms of rescuers the first day.

URKY does not have the funds available to provide all of these dogs with the care they will require.

Each will need vet care, some will require expensive hospitalization to treat. All will need to be vaccinated, spayed/neutered, receive HW testing and treatment if necessary.

PLEASE HELP. WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT, WE CAN NOT PROVIDE THESE DOGS THE MEDICAL CARE THEY WILL REQUIRE.

DONATIONS MAY ALSO BE SENT TO:

United Rescues of Kentucky is a 501(c)3. We are an all volunteer coalition of shelters, rescues, transports, adopters, fosters and animal advocates. In 2009 over $34,000 was raised and used solely to save the animals of Kentucky, the state ranked dead last out of 50 states by the Animal Defense League for abuse. The work is hard, the task is daunting but with your financial support, we are making a difference one dog or cat at a time. All donations to URKY are tax deductible to the fullest extent the law allows. Bless you for your help.

  • It is heartbreaking. We have had Enrique-long haired chi, for 13 months now. I spotted his little white and tan head @ 1:39. Has there been any follow up on Turner?

  • Thank you for the positive replies. This one was hard and heartbreaking. Just when I think I've seen it all .. I discover there is so much more cruelty that humans can do to innocent animals. Please help us help them.. even $5.00 will help us.
