It's a crime that the average WNBA player gets only $50,000 a year. Even Lisa Leslie only got $99,000 a year. NBA bench players get around $864,000 just for being available in case someone who actually plays gets injured, and team practices. You can't comfortably retire after being in the WNBA. If you run out of money after the NBA today, you're a complete idiot, but you can't even splurge a little with this money....dang...

I just don't feel that's fair at all basically. I tried hard to catch WNBA games, and missed MANY games because they weren't promoted, and IF YOU HAVE TIVO, the WNBA score isn't even in the SCOREGUIDE, and they have FREAKING NASCAR AND GOLF in there! But not the WNBA? That's just disrespectful.

AND I'M NOT EQUATING THE 12th PLAYER ON WNBA AND NBA ROSTERS! I'M EQUATING A WNBA SUPERSTAR to the LAST GUY on an NBA ROSTER!

@jerni2786 WNBA basketball is at the height of it's talent right now. Almost like the 1990s NBA era. But no one is promoting it. When they were promoting the WNBA when it started, they were more popular, but right now they just strictly promote NBA because they can make more money. They can make money with WNBA if they wanted, but they WILL make MORE money promoting NBA of course. But even during the NBA offseason last year, and when the WNBA was playing, I saw WAY more offseason NBA coverage.

@oO0randomzach0Oo Why is it a crime? It's about popularity. If nobody watches, there are no endorsements and advertising dollars. Therefore it's unfair to equate the 12th man on an NBA bench to the 12th player on a WNBA teams bench. Along with low ticket prices and unattractive markets, the WNBA suffers from an identity crisis. The shame is, when they were within their first 5 years of existence, I was a huge fan of the Houston Comets (along with my brother, Sheryl Swoops and Tina Thompson.

When the WNBA started it generated quite the publicity with advertisements, commercials, and all the shabang. But what you don't understand is companies can only endorse you for so long before they cut their losses. WNBA does not generate a fan base. The Sparks games here in LA only go for about 10 bucks. Only field trips and lesbo's watch those games. Money talks, politics don't.

@revemupman True statements....people would rather see men play sports, including me, though I do feel that WNBA players are slightly underpaid. Especially with there being only 12 teams. What I'm saying though, is that this year there was the LEAST advertising for women's sports. I saw little to no coverage. If you have tivo, no WNBA scores on the sports guide, and they even had NASCAR!! People aren't watching because women in sports are talked down upon and not advertised at all.

@revemupman Yes, women are encouraged to degrade men, like on Dr. Phil. It makes me sick when they have a topic about men and women (mostly against the men) and they have an ALL FEMALE audience, Dr. Phil siding with women, and old man on the men's side who wrote a book but could care less really because he's too old to, and a comedian to make the man look like an idiot. Every discussion's like that. Men are bashed, just like women. But both should learn to show respect to the ones doing good.

So, am I suppose to feel sorry for these ladies cause they don't fit the standard? This is about demand, and people demand to see the exceptional perform rather it be sexual, intellectual, physical or mental.
