I'm just messin' around with the strumstick. Lots of fun. I've got to say I bought a Smokey Mountin and a McNally grand. The McNally grand is an extremely superior instrument. I actually had to reset the frets on the Smokey Mountain to stop the buzz. And the weight is all wrong on the Smokey. It's cheap and probably okay for an absolute beginner, but the strumstick (McNally) is just a better instrument, and worth the extra bucks. Nuff said ....

  • i gotta listen to this next time i light up :P

  • Yea, do that. Should be a "trip".. hahaha

  • Thank you so much. I have been looking for the measurement for a long time and as soon as I get it I can start making my cigar box "strumstick". I can't wait, I made a canjo and got pretty good at it but it broke, so I decieded to make a cigar box "strumstick".

  • 25" on mine, but keep in mind that fret scale is relative. The standard fret scale on today's banjos is 26 1/2 inches, but it was not always so. I prefer much shorter ones. You can find fret scale formulas online, for the strumstick. Good luck with the project.

  • I'm making a cigarbox strum stick(trying to make a imitation grand strumstick) and was wondering if you could please tell me the length from nut to bridge, on your grand strumstick? It would really help me out.

  • I gave away my Strumstick but my sweetie has one. I can measure it tonight at her house and send you the measurement tomorrow. You might also ask Johnmcnair at Red Dog Guitars. He's here on youtube, makes cigar box 3 string guitars and I'm sure he'd be happy to help. Good luck with it.
