Location: Yau Shing Commercial Centre, 51 Sai Yeung Choi Street South, Mong Kok, Hong Kong

Capacity: 12 Persons/900kg/2000lbs

Total floors covered: 21 (G, 1-20)

Year of commission: 1992

These (totally 3) are probably the fastest Mitsubishi elevators all over Hong Kong. Watch the floor indicator in action as the car dashes through the floors. This lift features a top drive thus you can hear the propulsion motor sound as it slows down from full speed on stopping at the 16th floor during upward travel, and when starting up to full speed from the 18th floor on downward travel. The video also includes the characteristic bell sound of Mitsubishi elevators.

  • The fastest mitsubishi elevators in Hong Kong are at the Cheung Kong Centre in Central.

  • Yes, that's the fact. The fastest in Mong Kok are possibly these, though.

  • Yes, those do look really fast, particularly for their generation!

I miss Mitsubishi elevators. They don't have them in very many places in North America. You should film more! e.g. Cheung Kong Centre, Bank of China Tower...

  • Wow, that's interesting.

  • The reply video [v=UrAokbB80JM] features an even louder sound of the same powertrain but inside a 40-storey apartment block.

  • I wasn't surprised that the 19th & 20th floors were locked off, but it was interesting to hear the motor sound.

  • Sorry. I don't have time to get there in the daytime.

  • They were, as these two floors are only open during the daytime. This video was shot in the evening.

Can you hear the motor sound? Next time try to get to the top floor in a high speed elevator starting from as far from the top floor as possible without stopping. Listen carefully as the car slows down on approaching the top floor. Then travel downwards as far as possible without stopping. Hear the sound of the motor starting up at this point also.
