Offensively, DEN will be fine. Offense was never a problem with the Broncos and DEN has one of the best O.C. in the NFL. But he's still young and learning on the job so that comes with some growing pains. But defensively, if Mike Nolan can help stop the run and let Bailey and Dawkins make plays in the secondary, then the defense should be much better than the last few seasons. DEN will compete no doubt, but no one will know anything till pads come on and we see football.
As far as the trade goes, since both players are pretty young, I'd say wait 3 years to see how Orton plays and what those draft picks do for DEN. But I think Denver got franchise tag value for a QB that has 3 years left on a manageable contract. DEN didnt have to pay cutler the $10 mil for the year to get the 1st round picks the Bears gave up. Bears maybe overpaid, but if Cutler was in the draft at this point, he would be the #1 overall pick no doubt. Plus CHI sucks at 1st round.
Montana said it best, "I'm not throwing darts at ballons; I'm throwing ballons at darts" Also, this is in response to all the Cutler haters, Jay never said ANYTHING bad about his teammates or the Broncos organization. He thanks Bowlen, the Broncos and said that he would do thing differently if he could do them again. But in all fairness, DEN did try to trade him. Jay just speeded up the process I think. Either way, it seems DEN got what it wanted.
Orton is a Safe QB, a good guy coming of the bench and a solid starter, no, he wont get you 4000 yards, but he will make safe passes. Eddie Royal will strugel, due to Ortons inability to throw deep, but, He will make safe throws, at the same time, expect your above agerage line to take a mojor hit. I have looked at alot of vid of cutler and he avoided alot of sacks himself by steping away from presure,
You guys got a good deal, its up to you to make your team better now.
im sorry man..but i disagree..I watched orton every game he played in the nfl. He is barely a decent QB. The only plus side he has is that he is a leader and he wont make a lot of mistakes. Orton stats were padded by having a great pass catching RB and a good/above average defense and the best special teams in the league. He cant throw a ball more than 20 yards. So expect alot of 2 yard bombs. All in all he isnt a play maker and you guys will definitely need to find a new Qb for the future.
Enough w/ Chicago's wonderful running game last season--they ranked 24th w/ a stud Matt Forte.
Denver, going 7 deep in the rotation, ranked 12th!
Orton will manage the team exceedingly well, and in the last 3 critical games I doubt that he would have gone 5int/2td like Jay-baby and then screamed at his teammates.
If we do well w/ the Bear's 2 #1s this trade could be like the Hershel Walker to Minnesota trade of this decade.
Cutler sure looks like the Jeff George of our era!
I'm also well aware that Hall was on Royal. But it wasn't the whole game. Kiffin made a change at halftime that put Asomugha on Royal. And I do recall specifically, he did have a catch on Asomugha, and he was covered by Nnamdi the majority of the 2nd half.
And again, congratulations, I never said anything bad about Cutler. I actually said he'd be fine, why do you continue to argue?
I'm just saying that Cutler doesn't have developed weapons and that Cutler didn't make the receivers in Denver, I also will say that the receivers didn't make Cutler, it was a good combination, that's all I'm saying. Does that mean I'm saying Cutler sucks? NO! Cutler will do GOOD, but so will Orton. And I'm saying that Orton will be better in Denver than he was in Chicago because Orton WILL have developed weapons, and very good one's at that.
