The Queen of Form

Killer stilettos click
Leather clad thighs slick
Dragon's Blood nails grip
Black coiled whip

The floorboards creak
Some letters feel weak
A brave few rebel
"FUK YOU" they spell.

The whip cracks out
Letters fly skyward
Dispelling thoughts of insurrection
"SPELLING," she shouts
Offering correction, seeking perfection.

"OK. BOYS"... words of sweetness and light
In lines of three, dress to the right
"TERZA RIMA" will go down a storm
A-B-A, B-C-B, C-D-C, you'll see the form.

Two Z's smirk and slink away
She'll not need us today they say
She smiles sweetly, whispers "ZANZIBAR"
It rhymes with CAR, or BAR, or FAR.

Her tongue touches
Manicured fingertips
Through painted lips
Words form quickly
And oh so slickly.

"ARAB DHOWS"
With salt stained bows
"IVORY," "CLOVES"
All things nice
Like "CINNAMON" and SPICE"

"TURTLES" and "DOLPHINS" play
"INDIAN OCEAN" "SPRAY"
"WHITE," "WHITE SAND"
Upon this, "CORAL STRAND."

The letters now, seem not so shy
They rush to do her bidding
"CHOOSE ME," "USE ME"
They shout to join in time
With poetry that's quite sublime.

At last, the poem stands complete
And we'll shower compliments at her feet
To one whose genius is beyond the norm
AMERA, the one and only
Queen of Form.

  • Eh, eh, I loved the playful alliteration on this... it was absolutely brilliant, and quite hard to achieve I imagine. Particularly the "click" sounds at the beginning, I found them just perfect, I could imagine the whip coming down and the letters simply jumping into place... :)

  • You are a fine poet as well. Love the alliteration throughout the poem...sets a nice beat/rhythm. A job well done...

    Bravo!!

  • This looks nice also. I guess the updates are good, should say again, “Brilliant poem.” The nuance is well above average.

  • What a delight!
