City Council candidate racially profiled, arrested for "resisting arrest"

For over a year, the Greensboro Police Department's gang squad has ruthlessly targeted Jorge Cornell and tried to criminalize and publicly discredit him. The bogus charges they repeatedly bring against him do not stick. Now, Cornell is running for Greensboro City Council at large, but that hasn't stopped unwarranted gang squad harassment. Watch here how Officer RA Watkins of the gang squad gets in Jorge's face, then tells him to back up, and ultimately arrests him for resisting arrest, even though Jorge clearly does not resist. Following the outrageous arrest, Jorge was released on $500 bond AND put on at 6 PM curfew by the Magistrate (NOT a judge) making it incredibly difficult to run for office. For example, City Council meets this Monday at 5:30 PM.

This took place August 1, 2009 downtown Greensboro while Jorge Cornell, his friends, and two daughters (shown crying and criticizing police) were trying to enjoy a free concert.
