Hey, I have a myTouch 4g that's Perm-Rooted and True S=Off, yet, I can't custom ROMs. I've followed the step provided by ELBdelorean's "How to Flash CyanogenMod 7 Nightlies on myTouch 4G" and the Unlockr's "How To: Load a Custom ROM on the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G / HTC Glacier" videos but had no success. I have tried flashing Iced Glacier, CM7, and MIUI; every time, I get message saying installation has been aborted! Any ideas? I'm very new to this, so I apologize if this is a dumb question.

the first time it cm7 loads, how long does it take? the cm7 load screen has been going on for about 2mins now. the animation keeps restarting after the arrow goes around a few times.

What does CyanogenMod 7 do? What does it add to myTouch4G? I got my phone about 2 months ago, love it, but am having battery life issues. Will this help it?

@pinouye CyanogenMod 7 is a variant of 2.3 Gingerbread that will allow you to greatly increase the functionality of your phone. Of course, rooting in general will also do this. As for the battery life issues, the only thing you can do is just see what is using the battery and try adjusting it. Also, try the app Watchdog to see if any apps are taking a lot of power. If you root, you can adjust your CPU speeds. Underclocking while the screen is off has helped by battery life significantly.

I get the same problem as roomiez below. does it need to be on clockwork mod recovery 2,5,1,4? or can you just have it as the newest recovery img?

when i go to All clockwork mod recoveries and choose 2.5.1.4 it says:

An error occurred while flashing your recover

did i miss something?

@ELBdelorean I had the same problem. I took the battery out, held the volume buttons as i pressed the power button, and then selected "recovery" and then restored to my backup of my stock rom...

i have this phone and i unlocked it and now am having problems with it, i dont get any signal at all with any sim card, i get the limited service message. if i root the phone and install this new os would the baseband change or would it be the same? would it fix my problem or should i just send it to htc?
