First official footage of RED Scarlet 8x fixed camera shot at 120fps. Announced dead as of November 2011. Although at a higher price than the original fixed lens Scarlet, a better, more professional camera was released, the SCARLET-X.

  • This footage remains in memory of the original 8x fixed lens Scarlet. But please, everyone should move on, whether it means purchasing the Scarlet-X and making some beautiful content, buying a C300 (lol) or another lower priced 1080p camera. Then again, you can stay on the fence and hope for a 2/3 3K camera -- one that might never, ever, happen.

Although higher priced than expected, personally, we couldn't have asked for a better camera than the Scarlet-X to join our team. Good investment.

  • @pib4ever so there is no other version of the scarlet coming out with a fixed lens for a cheaper price then I take it?

  • @Ipad2Adventures No -- at least not at this time!

  • @pib4ever i only care about video but can't afford a 6,000 price tag....i want something around 1500-2,000 so i'm considering a panasonic gh2 or canon....is there a better camera for video in that price range?

    How much is a scarlet-x?

  • @zpardos Unfortunately I can't seem to find the original footage. So you simply have to speed this video :) It was a while ago but I think this version is in 30fps so if you play it 4 times faster it will become correct.

I personally used Sony Vegas Platinum HD to increase the speed and export the 120fps footage.

  • @GustavNils I have a 120Hz screen. Where do you get a version of this that plays at 120fps?

  • @pib4ever I shall never move on, to me it is akin to a pregnancy miscarriage. Years of counselling and heartache will never replace the void that is the original fixed lens 'baby Red'. Hence as time progresses I shall approach Tim (or possibly kidnap) with the intention of resurrecting a few devices, which after all are perhaps 'the' definitive tool for documentary cinema, whether online, theatrical or terrestrial.

  • ALL PRAISE TO RORY BROSIUS

  • too bad it shoots 120frames at 1K...which is barely 720p

  • Watching this in the correct speed on a 120Hz screen looks absolutely amazing. Damn, I hate the 24p-standard.

  • @1R1Y1A1N1R1O1B1 Exactly.

  • i dont actually understand why this is on youtube... kinda defeats the purpose...

  • @whole27 The thing that the RED cameras do is that they shoot uncompressed/mostly uncompressed RAW footage which is irreplaceable. The ability to be able to change the footage however you like in post is incredible and the quality of uncompressed is also incredible.

  • @segajin what's that? sounds like crap.
